1. "The Sound of Music" (1965) USA
Dir: Robert Wise 5 Potatoes
This is the best of the best musical of all time. The story is about a woman Maria, played by Jullie Andrews, who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess of seven children.
I have watched this film so many times on TV and finally last year, thanks to American Cinematheque, I watched it on the BIG screen for the first time in my life!! I loved it even more!
2. "West Side Story" (1961) USA
Dir: Jerome Robbins & Robert Wise 5 Potatoes
Another amazing movie I can keep watching again and again. The story is about Maria and Tony who falls in love, the problem is that they are from 2 different gang groups in New York. The modern tale of Romeo and Juliet. This film was also shown at the American Cinematheque last year, and I was so happy to see it on the big screen.
Did you know Michael Jackson's Thriller dance was influenced by West Side Story??
3. "To Catch a Thief" (1955) USA
